Designing and planting an attractive garden is the dream of many flower lovers. While local landscaping and garden centers may have a good selection of plants and seeds, you can find even more through mail order

 

Seed Catalogs

  • Creek Heirloom Seed – Photos and 1400 heirloom seeds.  This catalog treats seeds like pin-up girls.  The pictures will make you salivate.
  • Garden Seeds – This site gives smaller quantities at lower prices. Good selection of  seeds for Asian, French, Italian, Middle Eastern, and Latin-American vegetables as well as dyeing and medicinal herbs.
  • Scheepers Kitchen Garden Seeds – Great descriptions, fine variety and seed amounts clearly shown. And if you’re a flower fanatic, wait until fall and be blown away by their bulb catalog: Beauty from Bulbs.
  • Savers Exchange – This is a non-profit, member-supported organization that saves and shares the heirloom seeds. Catalog and website are first rate.
  • Territorial Seed Company -  This is the mainstay of the Pacific Northwest gardener and grower.  A catalog that covers an amazing array of seeds tested in a climate where “wet” is just another word for Monday.
  • Le Jardin du Gourmet – This seed catalog is on a shoestring budget but prices and quality are great.  Packet prices range from 35 cents to $1.00 and they have exceptional shallot sets.

Rare or Unusal

  • Rare Plant Nursery - Small farm in north Idaho specializing in fragrant and lesser known ornamental, edible & useful plants for northern climates.

  • Burpee -  Avid gardeners can purchase everything from packets of seeds to perenial flower plants, vegetable plants and herbs to tools, supplies, and informative books.
  • Springhill Nursery -  Older garden plant catalog company that sells perenials, ground covers, trees and shrubs.
  • Jackson and Perkins -  Specializes in bulbs, roses, and perennial plants.
  • Bluestone Perenials – Huge selection of attractive perenial plants.  Stocks ground covers, vines, shrubs, and many types of bulbs. Shrubs, herbs, and ornamental grasses are also available.
  • High Country Gardens – This catalog features plants that grow best in the western portions of the United States. They have packs of perennials and other plants for low-water gardens, high altitude gardens, and others as well.
