2016 Master Gardener Plant SaleSave the Date! for the Master Gardener Plant Sale & Garden Market.  Fill your gardens with a bevy of beautiful plants, vegetables and herbs.

Take advantage of the huge variety of tomatoes, herbs and veggie starts to start your very own grocery garden this season. What about picking up a Mother’s Day plant or garden gift?

The sale is open to the public on Saturday, May 7, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.  and on Sunday, May 8, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the UW Center for Urban Horticulture (3501 NE 41st St., Seattle 98105). Attend the Preview Party fundraiser on Friday.

Preview Party Fundraiser. Start the sale early and grab the first pick of plants at the Preview Party on Friday, May 6, 5:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at CUH. Armed with wine and food, you may browse the plant selections and shop early.  Details will be available later, but plan now to bring you family and friends! Purchase tickets now, availability is limited. Come early to shop, the sale opens to guests at 5:00 p.m.

By Design: Ideas, Plans & Plants and lots of advice. FREE 20-minute consultation with Master Gardener professional garden designers during the sale. Look for the By Design booth to sign up during the sale days. Sign up early to reserve a time by calling 206-685-5104, or just drop by during the sale to reserve a time. Bring your ideas, photos, and sketches to make the most of this experience.

Buy a $2 raffle ticket for a chance to pocket cash and support the MG Foundation and the King County Master Gardeners. First prize, $500. Second prize, $300 and Third prize $200. Get one or more raffle tickets by contacting your favorite King County Master Gardener, or plan to purchase a ticket at the sale at the Information Booth. Only 2500 tickets are available for sale. Winners will be announced Sunday during the Plant SaleYou do not have to be present to win. Remember that all proceeds from the raffle tickets and the plant sale go to the Master Gardener Foundation of King County which supports all the Master Gardener programs in the county.

Plants on Sale. You are sure to find a huge selection of veggies and herbs, perennials and natives. View the catalogue of edibles and seeds for sale. For the early starters, tomato plants (see this list of varieties that will be available). The sale will include hundreds of edibles for summer gardens of all kinds. Ask a Master Gardener to answer your questions about plants as you browse.

If you are interested in garden plants other than veggies, then this is the sale for you. Master Gardeners have been propagating and potting plants since last fall to ensure that you have a huge selection of perennials, ornamentals including trees and shrubs, and natives.

A number of local vendors will join this sale to provide their own specialty products including plants and garden display items that will provide the perfect focal point for your garden.

Questions about Plants? The Master Gardeners will have their own booth and the MG Diagnosticians will be on hand to answer your plant questions. Bring your ideas and questions and get more design ideas as you wander the sale.

Want to volunteer or just be involved? Sign up today, and check out our Master Gardener Volunteer Page for all kinds of opportunities. Grow some herb and veggie starts. See what the Veggie/Herb/Edibles Department would like to have you grow for their inventory this year.

Do you work with a non-profit organization, garden or school who would like to receive some donated plants? After the Master Gardener Plant Sale, any donated plants that have not been sold will be available for the taking to nonprofit organizations and schools for planting or selling. Please sign up in advance by emailing Eileen Hynes: eileenhynes at gmail.com (and please include the name of your non-profit organization and explain your need for the plants). Your only obligation is to schedule to pick up the designated plants at the end of the plant sale on Sunday, May 8th, between 3 and 3:30pm. The Plant Sale is a tradition for the King County Master Gardeners, who are celebrating the 43rd anniversary of the WSU Master Gardener Program. All proceeds from this sale go to the Master Gardener Foundation of King County which is the main financial support for the Master Gardener program in King County.

Come join the fun and get started on your great garden and groceries for the 2016 growing season.
